Sunrise at Haleakala

Watching the sun crest the horizon from the 10,000 ft summit is one of Maui’s iconic experiences. Reserve a sunrise entry permit ahead, pack warm layers (it can dip below freezing), and count on about 2.5 hours from Kaanapali. Two lower overlooks offer nearly the same view with fewer crowds if you are running late.
